2026 Club Championship Qualifier
History awaits as the crown jewel of our tournament schedule gets underway. A chance to have your name permanently etched onto a decades old trophy, be presented with the coveted Gold Jacket and be honored at the Club Champions’ Dinner, and a nice piece of crystal we all hope to find a spot for in our homes…are we motivated??!! Plus – you get all the fun of competition along with the chance to grind a bit on all of our old and new friends. Entries are open, here are the details:
The Qualifying Tournament date is Saturday, September 12th. This is an 18-hole stroke play qualifier, with the match play field made up of the low 16 GROSS scores, including our defending champion, Ryan Acton, who has earned an automatic bid. The next low 16 NET scores will make up the match play field for our Net Championship. Tee times will begin at 8am, with the first wheel of players teeing off between 8 and 10:15, then making the turn to complete their round. Depending on the size of the field (capping it at 80 players), we will have an afternoon draw starting at 1:00. Playing 18 holes on our 9 hole course in a large tournament format is a bit tricky, so a couple hard and fast rules here: the field is limited to the first 80 entries, with a hard closing date end of day Sunday, Sept. 6th – no exceptions!
Entries are open to all golfing members of the Mill Valley Golf Club. If you are not a member (or know someone who’s not a member) and want to mix it up with the this awesome field of existing former champions, hopefuls, and serious sticks, here’s your chance to join this great Golf Club at The National and get in on the fun.
A couple of “absolutes” for all that enter: if there is a tie for the last spots of match play there will be a sudden death playoff, commencing 15 minutes after the last group finishes. Depending on the size of the field, the playoff could take place as late as 5 – 7pm. Any player not available at that time will forfeit there spot in the playoff. Once the field has been set and the brackets have been announced, players will have one week to set and complete their match. Please be aware and able to hold up your end of things. The Finals will be played on Saturday, October 10th. The Championship Match will be the traditional 36 holes, with the Net Championship decided over 18 holes. This event is a bit more structured, with efforts to keep the playing field level for all. Whatever the size and make up of the field, the tournament committee will assign tee times and the make up of foursomes. Tee times and pairings will be announced by end of day Tuesday September 8th. Entry fee for this event is $50, and will cover the cost of the jacket, trophies and prize money as well. Players will be responsible for their individual green fees.
